Often we know what outcomes we want from each other and from meetings but often discussions get hung up on details or ideas are rushed through without any real input from the majority of people. The result is that decisions get made without the benefit of insight from many people who were in the room and leadership team members feel ignored, talked over or disenfranchised. Team meeting facilitation can help avoid some of these pitfalls, ensure that leaders get the most from their teams, and that groups increase cohesion and overall effectiveness.
The workshop can be run in a single day and can cover principles of leadership; different styles & attributes of leaders; understanding the importance of situational flexibility; the importance of diversity and inclusion; the positives of taking leadership roles; developing a participant's own leadership skills
Similar to the New Leaders workshop but with greater emphasis on the research team and the different challenges that might bring. To cover - principles of leadership; different styles & attributes of leaders and why understanding your role as a leader is important for your team; how to generate an inclusive research environment; what is diversity and how can it be used to enhance outcomes; developing leadership skills; developing your team as leader
There is a growing understanding that to tackle global challenges requires collaboration. However, almost all stages of the academic career ladder focus on recognising and rewarding individual endeavour. This workshop aims to embed a clear understanding of shared purpose within teams and will focus on how individuals can contribute to create synergy; understanding access to and use of resources; ensuring progress within the context of larger goals; the role of the leader to maintain a clear vision.
To succeed in volatile environments leaders will need to look beyond their own skill-sets and draw on diverse knowledge and understanding from their teams and beyond. This workshop aims to equip current leaders with evidence-based approaches to underpin decision-making and strategy building in the challenging environments facing higher education. It will cover responsibilities of established leaders; leadership styles & attributes needed in the current climate; and understanding and supporting diversity in leadership teams.
